The Foods of Orlando's Dinner Shows
Monday, October 03, 2005

The Orlando area hosts countless visitors each year. They don't just come from around the country, but from all around the world. Food choices in such a highly traveled place are, of course, fabulous and Orlando has become rather well known for her dinner theaters.

If you want to find out what kind of shows each of the dinner theaters offer, you will need to do some research because this article is about the food that will come along with your dinner!

Starting out at Sleuth's Dinner Theater on International Drive you will have your meal while solving a mystery that will be presented to you. The meal will start with salad and dinner rolls along with various appetizers.

When it is time for your entree you will be choosing from one of three options. You can have Prime Rib served with baked potato and veggies; Cornish Game Hen glazed with honey and served with stuffing, veggies, cranberry sauce, and baked potato; or Four Cheese Lasagna that you can order with or without meatballs. Oh, and be sure to save room for the "Mystery Dessert."

Drinks are included in the price of your ticket and you can choose from beer, soft drinks, a selection of wines, coffee, tea, etc.

If you are not so much into mystery solving and would prefer seeing a show complete with knights on stallions and jousting, try Medieval Times Dinner Theater on West Irlo Bronson Highway. The show has been going on for more than twenty years and your dinner will include a start of vegetable soup and bread and then your meat. Chicken and ribs are the usual fare served with potatoes and dessert.

Take a walk through the Medieval Life Village Museum after the show. I found it all very fascinating when I visited and very educational. I was too chicken to go into the chamber torture part of the museum, however. I think I will need to remedy that next time!

Dolly Parton's Dixie Stampede will offer an entertaining show and dinner that includes Rotisserie Chicken, BBQ Pork Loin, soup, biscuits, vegetables, dessert, and drinks . . . all included in your ticket price. If you prefer a vegetarian dinner, lasagna is available. Many of the dinner shows will offer a vegetarian choice, so be sure to research those places if anyone in your party requires that option.

Dixie Stampede is found on Route 4 near the theme parks. Be sure to arrive in time for the pre-show. You may also be able to see the horses before the show if you arrive early enough.

Those are only three of the numerous dinner shows in Orlando! Look them up and choose a couple of them to visit while you are in town. A few others (but check for those not listed!) and their entrees include:

Arabian Nights Dinner Theater: Chicken or Prime Rib (also salad, rolls, mashed potatoes, drinks and wedding cake. Yes, you will be seeing a wedding!)

Capone's Dinner and Show: Buffet meal offering many Italian dishes, meats, side dishes, and desserts.

Pirate's Dinner Adventure: Chicken, beef, sides, bread, and desserts while being part of a high seas adventure story.

Fiasco's Dinner Show is a circus and magic show where diners choose from many international cuisines, a few of which are Thai, Indian, Chinese, British, Brazilian, etc.
