Stove Top Stuffing Gets Better
Tuesday, September 20, 2005

There's no question about it: I love instant foods. I know they're not the healthiest choices I can make, but I'm not very good at cooking so they really help me out. Plus, when I'm hungry, I'm hungry. I don't want to wait for an hour or more before my food is ready. So instant items that can be prepared in just 10-15 minutes are a staple in my household. One of my favorite instant foods that I keep on hand at all times is Stove Top Stuffing. In fact, I would have to say that I eat Stove Top at least once a week.

I have to say that I am very impressed with the changes that Stove Top has made over the years. These improvements keep me coming back and buying the product. For example, back in the day, you didn't have much choice when it came to Stove Top varieties. You got pork- or chicken-flavored stuffing, and that was it. Now, however, there are several more flavors. Besides the original chicken and pork flavors, you can also get turkey, cornbread, cranberry, and homestyle herb. I like all of these types, which means that I can have Stove Top often without getting sick of it. It's also nice to be able to match the stuffing to the kind of meat we're having (turkey, pork, or chicken) without having to go to any extra effort.

Another great improvement that Kraft Foods has made with their Stove Top line has been the introduction of Flex-Serve canisters. With Flex-Serve canisters, you measure out how much stuffing you want to make based on serving sizes. So you can make Stove Top for 2 people on one night, then turn around and make it for 8 people on the next night – right out of the same can. The measurements are provided for you, so there's no guesswork and no extra calculations required on your part. Before Flex-Serve, you were pretty much limited to the 4-person serving packets that came in the old Stove Top boxes. If you didn't need that much, then you would have to refrigerate the leftovers. If you needed more, you would have to mix two or three packets together to get the amount required.

Ever since I can remember, Stove Top has positioned itself on the market as a substitute for potatoes. That's a very accurate description, and now I find myself making the instant stuffing over potatoes nearly all the time. Potatoes are great, but they require much more time to prepare. When I don't have the patience or inclination to wash, peel, and mash, roast, or fry potatoes, I go with Stove Top.

If it's been awhile since you've tried instant stuffing, you should have another look at Stove Top. There have been a couple of big improvements that busy parents will appreciate. You'll get dinner on the table faster, and have less trouble doing so. That will make your spouse and kids happier, and give you more time to relax after your hard day.
